I was born and raised in Houston but my “heat genes” are long gone and I am a total wuss. Last week it was over 95F in Boston and I was like no thank you.
In New England, not everyone or every place has air conditioning and this is actually a thing of PRIDE. I’ve built up more tolerance but continue to be an AC snob. So yeah, here are some gems that get me through.
Things I Love
These ice cubes are the best for water bottles. Don’t delay.
Teva’s are looking cuter these days and I love my pair. But these take things to the next level.
This Vince set is on sale and perfect for summer parties.
Listening Notes: All Things Italian
I drove around 500 miles to and from dropping my tween daughter off at sleep-away camp. When she was glued to TikTok, I binged two shows that kept me completely entertained.
First, The Sicilian Inheritance which is produced by Kaleidoscope and iHeart and hosted by writer Jo Piazza. Piazza just published a novel by the same name and both the novel and podcast series are inspired by an unsolved mystery deep inside her family tree. Was her great-great grandmother Lorenza Marsala murdered in Sicily? It’s a tantalizing romp through the Sicilian countryside and an intoxicating “fly on the wall” mystery that glitters with Italian history and personality.
David Modigliani is behind Pack One Bag, a new series distributed by Lemonada Media and produced by Modigliani’s production company, Live Action Projects in association with Gilded Audio. The actor Stanley Tucci is an Executive Producer and contributes some serious voice talent. Modigliani voices his now deceased grandparents and the pacing keeps you on your toes.
Quick summary from a Deadline piece:
Modigliani’s grandfather, Italian-born economist Franco Modigliani, won the Nobel Prize in 1985. But, behind the love story that made his victory possible – a fairytale escape from Fascist Italy with his soon-to-be-bride Serena and her family – lies a much darker reality: a brother left behind to face the Nazis and shocking personal connections to Benito Mussolini.
Modigliani deftly transforms very specific family lore into a universally intriguing story about love, war, and legacy.
Take care of your hearts.
